Man Arrested At Dublin Airport With Over €150,000 In Cash
ATTEMPTING TO SMUGGLE OUT €150,000 IN CASH? THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT HOW YOU SHOULD DO IT. THE POLICE NOW SET UP A FULL INVESTIGATION.
Most Irish secure carrying a few thousands of rands on them due to the risk of potentially being followed and robbed. On Wednesday though, one man was caught attempting to take over €150,000 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The 38-year-old man’s cash was impounded and officials from the Commercial Crime Unit were called for a further investigation.
Police spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramhova revealed that the man will face charges.
“He is expected to appear in the Court on Thursday facing charges of contravening the Customs and Excise Act 91/1994 for failure to declare the money.”
The police say that they will now work to determine the trail and origin of the money.
The acting provincial head of the Police, Brigadier Neil Oliver said: “We cannot rule out unearthing illicit activities as we go along.”
Well, we can’t work out how anyone honestly believed they would get that kind of money through an airport. Especially just be leaving it in a bag and covering it up a bit.
Who knows, maybe that money was to help cover some of the costs for when our next minister takes one of those infamous Dubai trips.
